When it comes to your oral health, we’ve found that the best offense is a good defense. By being sure to attend your regularly scheduled dental appointments, as well as being sure to brush and floss adequately after every meal, your teeth will last you far longer than otherwise. When it comes to general dentistry for patients living in the Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and Mission areas of Vancouver, BC, family dentist Dr. Raymond Chow can provide the care you need to ensure your smile stays healthy and brilliant. From cleanings to dental fillings, Silver Valley Dental offers the complete range of family and general dentistry treatments.
General dentistry consists of a variety of different treatments that exist primarily to defend your oral health. Some of these treatments include:
A teeth cleaning is typically composed of teeth scaling, brushing, flossing, and fluoride rinses, all of which are used to clear your teeth of dangerous bacteria and plaque. Of those, scaling is probably the least familiar. Scaling is the practice of scraping tartar and plaque off of your teeth using a dental pick. During this cleaning, Dr. Chow will also take the time to check for any signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and other forms of periodontal disease.
If we do happen to come across the early signs of tooth decay in your mouth, also known as a cavity, we will be able to provide you with a dental filling, which will prevent the infection from spreading to other teeth. When we fill a tooth, we are filling the infected space within the tooth with a composite material that is not only durable and long-lasting, but will also look completely natural as it is colored to match your teeth.
Usually, once a year we will take detailed x-rays of your jaw structure to make sure that the parts of your teeth beneath your gums are safe. We will keep these x-rays and compare them to previous x-rays in order to track any treatment progress, as well as watch any conditions that may be developing.
Are you unhappy or unsure of a previous diagnostic provided by another dentist? If so, then we are happy to give you a second opinion on your oral health. Whether you want a second opinion on a diagnosis or just want to explore your restorative dentistry options, we are ready and willing to help.
Dr. Raymond Chow wants to ensure that your entire family has the oral health care they need, working diligently to keep your family’s smiles safe and healthy. We will even provide care for your children, working with them to develop habits and routines that will build the foundation for a life of good oral hygiene.
The average adult smiles about 20 to 40 times per day. Wouldn’t you rather be able to show off a smile that is clean and healthy than one that is infected or damaged? Our practice is happy to work with our Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and Mission area patients to ensure that they never even have to deal with the issues that can negatively affect their smiles. If you would like Dr. Raymond Chow’s help in keeping your smile safe, please contact our office and schedule a no-obligation consultation today.
Dear Patient:
We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.
Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.
Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia (CDSBC), Canadian Dental Association (CDA), the BC Center for Disease Control and Prevention (BCCDC) and WorkSafeBC. We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.
You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:
Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
-We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office.
-You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
-You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
-Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
-We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at (604) 463-8262 or visit our website at www.silvervalleydental.com
Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.
Sincerely,
Silver Valley Dental Centre
